Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you wanted to know about akkuplan
Is akkuplan for cars or for home batteries?
Yes. ๐
It's very good at optimizing your car charging, and very good at optimizing home battery charging. We are absolute nerds with a single mission: To help you make the best economic use out of your battery.
Why do you say that your charging optimization is the best?
Two things: Akkuplan's optimization is forward-looking and extremely comprehensive.
Forward-looking: Normal charging optimizations charge your car to the same level every morning. With akkuplan - you can still do that, or you can let akkuplan choose on which days to charge a little bit extra to make better use of cheaper prices.
Comprehensive: Akkuplan's optimization is comprehensive. A tiny example: Heating up a cold battery to charge it costs energy. Akkuplan considers this in order to avoid unnecessary interruptions in charging.
How does akkuplan know how much to charge?
Akkuplan learns and predicts your habits to make sure that your car battery (or your home battery) is always charged when you need it. But you can also use our Chatbot integrations or the admin interface to easily tell Akkuplan about an upcoming trip.
My wallbox can charge when prices are low. Why do I need akkuplan?
Maybe you don't! But here's the thing: Does your wallbox know when you'll depart in the morning?
akkuplan knows your departure time and makes sure your battery is warm and ready โ without wasting battery cycles. And that's just the start: akkuplan also considers things like variable grid fees under ยง 14a EnWG, plus many other details.
My home battery has a built-in charge optimization. Why do I need akkuplan?
Does your home battery keep itself empty today to take advantage of tomorrow's low prices?
akkuplan does: It considers solar forecasts, calculates battery wear against savings, and plans multiple days ahead. Your battery only charges from the grid when it's truly worth it โ and strategically makes room for cheap hours or expected sunshine.
